SSL-TLS Certificate Error when using Chrome v65 thru v80

As of the date of this article, (2018/05/01) if you are using the Google Chrome Browser and encounter an issue* when connecting to remote services (or any other HTTPS website for that matter), it is due to the new TLS 1.3 variant used as a default for HTTPS site connections in Chrome versions later than release 65 BUT before release 81. (After release 80 the option is no longer available)

One alternative is to use a different browser.
Some options, in order of preference (dependent on O/S) would be...

Firefox (only versions less than v60.x, for v60+ see similar KB article)
Microsoft Edge
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Safari

But if you still wish to use Chrome then...

open Chrome,
copy this URL...
chrome://flags/#tls13-variant
paste it into the URL bar
press enter.

On the displayed page, change the setting for TLS 1.3 from "default" to "disabled".
After you do you the settings page should appear as per the attachment below.
(Do not make any other changes unless you know what you are doing!)

Retry your connection and you should be good to go!

* the "issue" is an error - namely...
"ERR_SSL_VERSION_INTERFERENCE"
