Website Certificate Errors

Sometimes you may encounter and error when accessing a website.

Simply look at the error details to determine the cause of the error. Most often you will see a recent expiry. If this is the case you can choose to continue with your connection, if your are confident that all is otherwise OK.

Simply add the certificate as a temporary exception so that the site login can be reached. We would suggest a temporary exception as the error itself will only be temporary - if you see it at all. That way you will still be warned if there is a certificate error in the future. But if any details appear different than expected use extreme caution and do NOT disregard the warning.

Certificates are a way of proving identity so that when you connect you know the site is who it says it is. You should always pay attention to certificate errors and their cause - even though you may determine that you still can continue despite the warning.

See the attached PDF for how you can add a temporary exception using Firefox.
